Q. What is a moving allowance and how can I qualify?A. When a TAA worker obtains suitable employment in another region, he or she may be eligible for financial assistance for relocation to the new area. Moving allowances may include 90 to 100 per cent (depending on the petition number) of the reasonable and necessary costs for moving the worker, family and household products to the new site. The amount may be reduced if the worker is entitled to a refund from other sources. A worker may be entitled to a lump sum payment equal to three times the average weekly wage of the worker, with a maximum of USD 1,250 or USD 1,500 (depending on the number of the petition) to help them relocate.
